         Pune's own and one of the oldest education institute is Pune University formed in 1948 as Dr M.R Jayakar became first Vice Chancellor of the University. Having area of 400 acre Pune University has many affiliated education institutes and colleges from all parts of Maharashtra State.
Campus Tour.. Research Institutes like National Chemical Laboratories ,Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(CDAC)  Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics , MACS , National Institute of Virology (NIV)  are just to name few.
IUCAA , one of the pioneering institute for reaserch in Astronomy has chosen PUNE for its  rich culture and high standard educational system. In order to strengthen the University - Industry link and place the interaction on a more sound footing a Science
and Technology Park (STP) has been set up

The objectives in brief are as follows
1. To establish a facilitation centre which will include test and certification facilities, developmental infrastructure etc.
2. To broaden and raise the level of small scale sector by the introduction of some what modern techniques.
3. To make available to the industries the results of novel and innovative work being carried on in the University
4. To undertake short-term, well defined training programmes for persons sponsored by the industry.
5. To develop and promote entrepreneurship among young boys and girls so that instead of becoming job-seekers
   they become the job creators.
6. To provide consultancy and to make available to the industry the following infrastructure facilities
  • Computers
  • Language Translation facilities
  • Audio and Video Recording facilities
 
Very soon, work will start on housing this park in an independent premises where the interactions would grow
not just strong but creative and fruitful. It would certainly grow up as a cradle for entrepreneurs and a nursery of
innovative ideas.
The Science and Technology park (S.T.P.) proposes to convert into applied technology some of the discoveries
and inventions as well as published papers of the University departments
